At the request of the members of the Association of Foreign Companies with Technologically Advanced Production of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, in cooperation with AmCham and DIHK, the regular quarterly meeting with the Deputy President of the Government in charge of Economic Affairs, Coordination of the Economic Sectors, and Investments Fatmir Bitikji took place yesterday where roughly 30 companies with foreign capital operating in the country discussed the current issues and challenges foreign investors are facing.
Viktor Mizo, M.Sc., Association President, presented the issues and topics that interest foreign investors with technologically advanced production as to their ongoing operation, as well as the requests for support measures for their future development. Certainly, the energy crisis and its consequences was the first and presently the most important subject, but they also discussed several other important topics such as the amendments to the customs tariffs and the need for new duty reliefs, tax issues and the request for deferring the projected tax increases, issues regarding the labor shortage and work permits for foreigners, as well as issues that involve the need for infrastructure improvements both in the TIDZs and nationwide.
The Deputy PM Fatmir Bitikji, the Director of the Technological and Industrial Development Zones Directorate Jovan Despotovski, and representatives of other state institutions presented the Government’s position on certain issues. The attending FDI representatives said they expect this cooperation to continue and develop in the interest of the country, the economy, and all RNM citizens.
Following yesterday’s discussion, the foreign companies with technologically advanced production, acting through the Association of Foreign Companies with Technologically Advanced Production under the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, in cooperation with AmCham and DIHK, will forward their specific requests to the Office of the Deputy PM Bitikji to elicit appropriate response from the competent institutions and resolution of the problems.
